365 HOLDING ON TO FAITH

My name is Nathaniel Louis Philon Jr. I am like every son in the world that wants to make his father proud. Unfortunately, I lost my father when I was only 2 years old, to a tragic truck accident which left him burned on one side of his body. So, he will never see me accomplish any of my goals or watch me achieve my dreams. I am my mothers only son, and being a single mother having to raise a boy to a man was not an easy task. The things my mother taught me; I will never forget. She told me to believe in myself when nobody else will, and never stop trying, because the day you stop is when you fail. These are the things I tell my kids. I have 5 boys and 2 girls, and I have to be the dad to them I never had. I show them the love and affection I longed for as a young boy growing up. I feel the best way to show a child something is to lead by example, and that is what I am doing. I have had to burry so many of my love ones like my grandmother, my auntie, my cousin, and my brother, just to name a few. I stand here today proud and strong, because their death pushed me even more. I think of the conversations with them about me achieving my dreams and them being there to share it with me. Instead of me sharing their memories or speaking on what could have been. I show my kids that life is filled with disappointments and heartbreak, but its what you do after that moment. After you stayed up all night crying about your love ones you will never get back. It’s about not letting those dreams you talked about with them go to waste. I don’t believe that practice makes perfect, because if you only practice you will get better not perfect. It takes perfect practice to make perfect and knowing why you are doing it in the first place. I know why I am doing all of this, its not for me to buy a fancy car, or even a big house. It’s to give my children the knowledge of knowing you can do anything you believe in, as long as your willing to put in the work. There are no short cuts in life, just a person, a dream, and the determination to bring it all to life. When I wake up in the morning and look in the mirror, I tell myself there is no I can’t, only I can or can do. Where someone else stops, you continue.
