Nippon FM 92.1

February 14th, 1989 Japan. With the death of emperor Hirohito, the Showa era comes to an end– half a century of catastrophe, defeat, transformation, and spectacular growth. The Heisei begins. What does the future hold for Japan? In times of such uncertainty, exists a midnight radio show Nippon Fm 92.1, hosted by DJ Nao.

Written & directed by Takeru Thile, this surrealist interpretation of the bubble economy era of Japan comes just as the new Reiwa era is announced in present time. As an emperor steps down, Japan must take a look at itself and reflect on where they are going and what they have become.
