Butterfly, Bitterfly, Betterfly was inspired by Yiu Mei Ki, the first model that CHILI, makeup artist and art director of this story, met when she moved to Hong Kong. The team came together at the height of Covid-19 to challenge what is considered fashionable in Hong Kong through art. Their aim: to transform something deemed less desired in the consumer-driven industry into something beautiful and heavenly. Here, CHILI expresses the bittersweet freedom of subversive beauty and the heights you can reach when you take chances and have faith.

I want to be like a sea wave, sometimes calm, sometimes powerful. I want to show this in my creations and my makeup work.
